Benjarmasin canal's and floating market. Indonesia July 2014

So after Jakarta i was flying to Banjarmasin on Kalimantan island. I was choosing that cause i was reading it's road less traveled and i found this guide that i was hiring for couple days for different trips. He's name was Tailah and he was really nice guide. They say Banjarmasin is Indonesia's Venice cause there is thousand canal's but there is also anything else thousand as Tailah said. Thousand mosque's, thousand bridge's and thousand public toilet's and so on....

So we were first starting to explore canal's of Banjarmasin, here is straight away pic from me and Tailah:

so houses here are build over water and people are moving with boat's here. This is very poor area and there is no sewerage here so there is lot's of toilet's where u poo straight to water.

But also in that same water they do another things as u can see:

So the thing is, these people are making their Poo in water but also was clothes in there and in morning they go to bath also on river. And throw garbage's in same water. So our water in toilets that is taking away mr Hank is cleaner that everything these people use to do all their needs. Luckily at least drinking water they have clean and comes from somewhere else.

it's morning here when we go through canal's and peoples are yelling to me and Tailah: Salamat Bagi!!! which is good morning and even they poor they look so much happier than most of the people in Finland and it never stop's surprising me how these people are still so happy and friendly even their life is hard.

On next morning really early we make another trip to the floating market. It's 5 am, before sunrise and i like these early moment's before everything wake's. I'm waiting Tailah front of my hotel and i hear sound of praying from Mosque, i see couple man burning trashes on metal barrel. One man is waking on his rickshaw, gives it speed and is going somewhere to start working...

Then Tailah arrives with her friend driving motorbike. We walk to shore to the boat's and start our trip to floating markets. Its still dark and Tailah has his flashlight with him so another boats can see us and not hitting us. Its surprising fast than these canoes can just appear from darkness when they move without lights there.

But also Tailah is funny, somehow he wants to show me every "4 star hotel's" as he call's toilet's here, so every time he sees toilet above water he show's it with light and laughs :D

People are on morning bath now and many are near to toilet's so Tailah is telling me that many times someone is same time on toilet when you take bath so they just have to push poo away with their hands, and laughs after telling me this :D

But on our way we already see canoes going to floating market and when we arrive to market we see lots of canoes there, selling so many different things, fruits, vegetables, sarongs, pancakes made straight in canoe, fish, and what ever....

It's really colorful combination because all clothes and different fruits and stuff they are selling, i buy bananas, oranges, pancakes and everything so good and fresh. I also don't understand how they can make pile of oranges so stable on canoe that they are not falling? It must be some kind of voodoo spell on those :D

But these were couple first days with Tailah, we still went to visit on next days place where they search diamonds and all that they do before selling those, and we went also for couple days jungle trek on local village which was really cool, but i write those things later....
